Is Juicero produce really that fresh?

The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is that it takes an average of only 3 days for our kale to arrive at your door from the farm.

Part of what makes our business so complex is that by partnering with farms, we’re able to manage the supply chain of all of our organic fruits and vegetables literally from the ground up. To be this deeply committed makes our lives a little more complex, but we think it’s worth it.

The Green Effect

Fresh Kale

For discussion’s sake, let’s use green leafies like kale and spinach as examples to illustrate just how close to harvest our greens are when they land on your doorstep.

Experience from our food science and operations teams tells us that whole bunches of greens at the supermarket aren’t as fresh as you may think. On display alone, produce could spend up to 3 days on the shelves before being bought and brought home—and this doesn’t even include the time in transport or at the distribution center.

Juicero’s greens, on the other hand, arrive at your doorstep as soon as 2.4 days from harvest, and no longer than 5 days from harvest. On average, it’s 3 days from harvest to your glass.

Here’s the hourly breakdown:

  • Kale is harvested and sent to chill: up to 6 hours
  • Chilled and stored: 28-72 hours
  • Washed and packed: up to 24 hours
  • Delivered to your door: up to 24 hours

Maybe that was the longest answer…

A Quick Look Inside the Packs

Organic kale plays a major role in our greens-based juices, being runner-up only to spinach in both the Sweet Greens and Greens flavors. Like carrots, kale has carotenoids, a category of phytonutrients including lutein and zeaxanthin that may help promote healthy vision.

Organic spinach is in four out of five of our current flavors. It’s present in every Pack except for Carrot Beet, and has a starring role in our Greens flavor at a whopping 1.6 cups. Spinach has phytonutrients including a dozen different flavonoids that may help promote good health.
